Engaged? Helpful Tips on Save-the-Date Wording

11 Jan

Engaged?  Congratulations!  One of the next steps is to send friends and family a Save-the-Date Announcement.   Not sure what to include on your Save-the-Date?  Etiquette expert Sue Fox has the following suggestions to help you with wording whether your style is formal or informal.

The format and wording to use

Ensure that you include both names, the date and location of the wedding and since this may be a new concept to some of your guests include an explanation that a formal invitation will follow. The card can be worded quite informally:

Save the weekend of June 19, 2009! Jane and John are getting married!

We’re getting married! You’ll be invited to the wedding that is to take place on June 19, 2009. Please save the date! Jane and John

Joanne Green and Allen Thompson  Please Save the Date!  We will be getting married on July 25th 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. Invitation and details to follow.

A more formal approach for a formal wedding might read:

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Myers,

Please save the date of Saturday, June 19, 2009 for the wedding of Joanne Green and Allen Thompson (or full names for a formal card) in Boston, Massachusetts.  Invitations to follow.

Sincerely,

Mr. & Mrs. William Green

And make sure to enter our Pinterest Wedding Contest for one in five chances to win a $100 Gift Certificate to The Stationery Studio.  The perfect way to kick start your wedding planning.

xoxo

Jennifer

Tips for Summer Weddings

Wedding Cake Shower Invitations Eat Drink and Be Married Napkins Celebration Photo Favor Tags Interlocking Script Monogram with Text Napkins Wedding Favors Classic Tangerine Return Address Labels

This season’s hot color palette of tangerine and hot pink will make any summer wedding sizzle!  And since 35 percent of weddings are planned for summer months, we thought we’d help inspire your planning with TheStationeryStudio.com’s large selection of personalized wedding products.

Think Pink: Take color up a notch. Bright hues are the hottest trend this year.  Just look at the fashion runways for inspirational color-blocking and incorporate those spectacular brights right into your summer wedding ideas.  If you choose just two coordinating colors (like we did above) and work off of a bridal shower invitation like our Wedding Cake Shower Invitation or a beautiful bright Save-the-Date Card that you like, you can’t go wrong.

Flower Power:  Take your bouquet to the next level – and imagine how the vibrant colors will look against a white dress. Think sweetpeas, tulips, orchids and  roses in magentas, corals, and golds (tied with a hot pink or orange sash).

Accents To Remember: Make sure that your Wedding Napkins add a pop of color to the table and cocktail setting.  Napkins can also serve a double-purpose for a reception. Summer is the perfect time to have some fun and create a laid-back mood for your guests.  You can get creative with napkins, by printing your own vows, sayings – or even with a fun summer drink recipe – which makes a nice wedding favor for guests to take home.

Gratitude with Attitude: Don’t forget to leave Favor Bags at the hotel for your out-of-town guests.  Since most people can get time off in the summer, you might be surprised by how many guests travel to your wedding.   Bags can be filled with water bottles, aspirin, sunscreen, snacks and souvenirs like seashells for a beach wedding or baseball hats with your favorite local sports team.  Ask the hotel desk manager to hand them to your guests as they check in.  Our Celebration Photo Tags will add that personal touch and thank your guests with style.
