The Stationery Studio + One Warm Coat

3 Nov

As we approach the holiday season, we start thinking about all the gifts we need to buy.  We start working on our lists (and checking them twice!) and planning all of our shopping to get everything done in time.  This time of year is also a great time to give back to those in need.  The Stationery Studio is proud to be hosting their 3rd annual coat drive through One Warm Coat.  When we put out our donation box, it always fills up quickly.

We collect gently used coats, blankets, hats and gloves for those in our community in need.  What’s so heartwarming is when you watch actual recipients receive the coats and try them on.  You see how much it means to get the coats as winter is fast approaching.  Of course, donating coats isn’t the only way to give back during the holidays.  Some other ideas you can do at your work place:

  • Host a food drive for your local food pantry.  Food pantries are often forgotten during the holidays and this is a great time to help out.
  • Sponsor families in your community that could use your help.  Reach out to your township and ask who might need help this holiday season.
  • Host a toy drive for kids in need.

While these are a few ideas, there are many opportunities to give back this holiday season.  Please share in the comments below if you have other great ideas for people who are looking to give back at their work place.  I would love to hear how you help get everyone in the giving spirit during the holiday season!

xoxo,

Jennifer

The Stationery Studio Gives Back to Community this Holiday

9 Dec

I love this time of year.  The decorations, making cookies, buying presents for loved ones.  But I think more than anything, I really enjoy giving back.  I am happy to work at a company that feels the same way and truly reached out to it’s community this year.   The Stationery Studio gave back this holiday season by hosting a coat drive and helping their local food bank.  The coat drive was run through One Warm Coat and benefited JOURNEYS.  The Stationery Studio donated money to the Vernon Township Food Pantry to help those in need in their community.

“We wanted to help those in our community,” said The Stationery Studio owner and President Marc Redman.  “Hosting the coat drive and helping our local food pantry help those who live where we live and work.”  Over 300 coats were collected through the coat drive and came at the perfect time since the weather in the Chicago area is starting to drop.

Renee and Marc Redman, owners of The Stationery Studio, hand a check to William Peterson, Vernon Township Supervisor.

The Vernon Township Food Pantry said the money donated helps to provide for over 140 families who are in need.  William Peterson, Vernon Township Supervisor, was there to accept the donation from The Stationery Studio owners Marc and Renee Redman.  “We truly appreciate this monetary donation,” said Peterson.  “We were able to help all the families in the area this year.”
