DIY Easter Egg Bath Bombs

Easter is around the corner and I thought this year it would be really fun to include some homemade Easter egg bath bombs in my kids Easter baskets.  If you have a tween or teen girl, you know how much they love bath bombs.  I recently learned how easy (and somewhat inexpensive) they are to make at home.  Besides Easter, you could make these for any occasion.  Birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, etc.  I think these would make great bridal shower favors.  You could use our personalized favor tags & bags to make it an adorable take home favor!

My daughter Emily and I made these over the weekend and we had a lot of fun doing this together.  It was messy, so keep a vacuum nearby!  Here is the recipe we used from diyprojectsforteens.com:

Ingredients and Supplies:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salts
  • 1 tsp. water
  • 2 tsp. essential oil
  • 3 tsp. oil (olive oil)
  • food coloring (any color you want)
  • bowl
  • whisk
  • jar
  • bath bomb mold

Step One

Place the dry ingredients in a bowl and then mix them all evenly with the whisk.

Step Two

In a separate container, mix the liquid ingredients together. Note that in this step, the essential oils, fragrances and colors are added. This is an important step! Make sure to pick out lots of fragrance oils to try out here, as you can make many fabulous combinations for bath time.

Step Three

Slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry mix, one small spoon at a time.

Step Four

When well mixed, you simply pack this mixture into a bath bomb mold and pack tightly, then let it dry. Work quickly so as not to let the bath bomb mixture dry out.

We packed plastic Easter Eggs and clear ornament molds I found at a craft store.

My daughter Emily proud of her Bath Bomb creation!  You can combine different colors and scents if you’d like to make more colorful combinations.

Enjoy!

xoxo,
