The History of Tervis Tumblers

This week we wanted to introduce you to some fascinating history of Tervis Tumbler, a unique line of high quality drinkware.  If you’ve never tried a Tervis cup or waterbottle you have a treat in store if you decide to try one.may-tervis

Tervis Tumblers don’t break, they can be washed in the dishwasher, they keep cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot, they are guaranteed for life and, as I’m sure you can tell, they are very unique. They can even be personalized to your specifications!

Back in 1946, in Detroit, engineers Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis hit on something big. They harnessed the natural insulating powers of air to create the first permanently sealed double-walled tumbler.  To this day, this original concept continues to keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold, not to mention being virtually indestructible.  The two men combined the last three letters of each of their last names and dubbed their new drink ware brand “Tervis”.

Over future years, Cotter and Davis worked to refine and improve their designs.  The original tall, cylindrical tumbler evolved into additional sizes and products.  Tervis tumbler’s name is a leader in innovation.  The Donelly family purchased the Tervis product rights in the 1950’s and incorporated the Tervis Tumbler Company in 1967.

Today there is a wide selection of shapes, sizes, and hundreds of customizable designs, emblems and accessory combinations.  They are all made in the USA, in North Venice, Florida, where more than 400 people are employed through the family owned & operated business.

Enjoy your own Tervis tumbler, mug or water bottle!  They are great to use and make a wonderful gift for birthdays, housewarming, teacher gifts and more.  They make an excellent graduation gift, especially the water bottles with Collegiate Tervis featuring college logos and personalization!  This summer, enjoy your own Tervis Tumbler, perfect for the season as they do not break.

Best wishes,

Renee
