End-of-Summer Party with Style: Part One

Summer is quickly slipping away and it’s the perfect time to plan an End-of-Summer Soiree.  Labor Day is just around the corner, but that doesn’t mean we have to put away our flip-flops and white sandals just yet – Thank goodness! Why not host a theme party that brings out the kid in everyone?

The party should reflect the carefree attitude that summer reinforces.  A Camp-Themed  Barbecue or Hawaiian Luau will be sure to remind guests that you are never too old to enjoy the lazy days at the end of summer before back-to-school schedules and activities begin.

Here are some Tips for an End-of-Summer Party you and your family and friends will never forget:

  • Choose colors for this party that are bright and bold.  Pool water colors like turquoise and green with pops of orange and red bring in the feeling of a tropical island.
  • Invitations should reflect the summer theme and mention a casual dress code. Choose invites that set the tone for the party.  Don’t forget to remind guests to bring suits/towels if there is a pool/swimming or have a few of these bright-colored cabana towels on-hand.  Guests can even pull out some vintage classics – Hawaiian shirts that have been hiding in the back of the closet.
  • Be creative with centerpieces. Try filling tall clear-glass bowls with lemons and limes – an inexpensive way to add some color and seasonal scents and sights to the tables.  Float them in water and add a candle.  Here is a link with some how-to advice for a lemon/lime centerpiece.
  • Placecards should be personalized to match the décor and add some interest to the table.  Matching personalized napkins are also a great way to add some pizazz to the party.
